In Ancient Chinese thought, the whole universe is built on two fundamental forces, Yin and Yang. These aren’t forces of a physical nature but rather are more the intangible, and exist only in relating one with the other. Yang is dynamic, bright and vivid. The Yang starts things and drives them forward. Yin is more passive, flexible and responsive; receiving the Yang impulse and growing it into something real.
